A tweet from comedian David Walliams confirms that Philip will be rejoining the cast for a second series of BBC comedy, 'Big School'. David, who writes the show, tweeted earlier today; "Today we are reading through 'Big School' series 2 scripts with the cast for the first time. Great to see Catherine, Phil and Steve again." You can see a screenshot of the tweet below. We here at Philip Glenister Fans can't wait to see what's in store for Philip#s character, Mr Gunn in the next series. Will he ever get Miss Postern to take him seriously, or will he lose out to Mr Church?
Big School series 2 is predicted to air in August/September 2014 As many people are recovering from last night's New Year's Eve celebrations, we thought it would be a good opportunity to look forward at what 2014 will have in store for Philip. He has several television projects in the pipeline and here we give you a overview of what they are and when you can expect to see them on your screens. From There to Here - BBC One A funny, characterful and moving drama about a man, Daniel Cotton (played by Philip) whose life is rocked to the core – a family saga which begins in Manchester in the summer of 1996, on the day when an IRA bomb exploded in the city centre. The story spans the four years that changed Manchester and the country forever; from ‘Football’s Coming Home’ in 1996, to New Labour sweeping to power in 1997, and finally to the hangover after the Millennium celebrations of 2000. Against the feel-good backdrop of Euro 96, it maps the emotional shockwaves generated by that bomb in the lives of two parallel families from different sides of the tracks. Also stars Liz White, Stephen Mackintosh and Bernard Hill. Expected: Early 2014 Cars (w/t) - Channel Four Philip explores his personal passion for British motors in this new documentary. He will unearth the story of six cars that have played an important part in the UK’s social history, the cars that were built in Britain, were bold in design, caused a stir on the silver screen and flew the flag for great British manufacturing across the world. Philip is determined to hunt down and save the six iconic and abandoned motors he feels tells the story of post war Britain. Cars such as the Ford Escort Mexico, MGTC, Mini Cooper MK1, Triumph Stag and the DeLorean. Under Phil’s guidance, the internationally renowned restorer Ant Anstead will be tasked with the challenging job of rebuilding of them and bringing them back to their former glory. While Ant works hard with the spanners breathing life into old bangers Phil will explore the people, passion and social history stories behind each of the marquees, learning what makes each car so unique. Expected: Spring/Summer 2014 Big School, Series 2 - BBC One A second series of the school based comedy has been commissioned but we have no further information about it at the moment. Hopefully we will see a return of Mr Gunn. Expected: Autumn 2014 As you can see its shaping up to be a full on year for Philip; which is great news for fans. We're also hearing rumours of a new advertising campaign, but as yet nothing has been confirmed. As usual we've got our ear to the ground and our fingers on the pulse, so as soon as any Phil-related news breaks in 2014, we will bring it to you! Oh and if you missed our round up of Philip's 2013, then you can still read it here. Big School to return for second series2/12/2013 BBC comedy 'Big School' has been recommissioned for a second series. The show, written by David Walliams and the Dawson Brothers, looked at life in a secondary school. Philip played lothario Gym teacher, Mr Gunn in the first series Charlotte Moore, controller of BBC One, made the announcement today at a BAFTA event and at one point hinted that Big School could have a 'long run' with more series in the planning stages We've recommissioned Big School. I loved the fact that we were in a new precinct and environment, with a stellar cast. There has, as yet, been no confirmation that Philip will be reprising his role as Mr Gunn, but we would expect that, having such a major role, the casting team would want him back.
